Workshops

Our workshops are suited for either a training center or an individual school. For a school, it is typical to invite staff from other schools in your area and host at your school. Some times of year fill up quickly, so contact us as soon as you have a date in mind. Workshops involving hands-on construction of materials have an accompanying per participant materials fee.

Half Day

This half-day workshop is an overview of how to envision and create elegant and durable materials for your prepared environment. There will be several demonstrations of techniques and considerations for designing and creating your own materials.

Approximately two hours

Full Day

This full-day workshop begins with an overview of the process of design and creation as in the half-day workshop above. Participants will engage in hands on work in the creation of some materials and practice with techniques. This is a great workshop for Montessori trainees to help them see the importance of thoughtfully and beautifully made materials. Working Montessori Guides also benefit from this workshop as a refresher of the need for elegance in a Montessori prepared environment.

Material Specific

In this workshop, participants will create a specific material. This guided creation of a single beautiful material is the inspiration to looking at your Montessori prepared environment with new eyes. This workshop is the most close-contact workshop we offer. The design and creation of the material is demonstrated followed immediately by each participant making their own.

Some personal equipment may be required (e.g., sewing machine)

Two Day Combined

This workshop combines the overview and beginning hands-on of the full day workshop with the individual creation of a material as in the material specific workshop.  This two-day approach allows participants to immediately put into action the ideas and visions they have following the full day workshop.
