Who is Primrose?

Primrose Materials really began just before my Primary Montessori Training in Saint Paul, Minnesota. With a background in design, when I began the training in 1998, I dove right in with material making for the course. I also started making materials for our training center. Interest grew from there. Primrose began officially in 2001.

Where do you get the ideas?

I stay close to the Montessori theory. Simple ideas like the fact that beauty attracts children and dirt repels them can be very instructive. A number of ideas are inspired by nature. You just really have to keep your eyes open and see how things relate. I am always looking for more ways to offer a beautiful and intricate variety of materials to children.

What do you do?

After working in apparel design for a while, I took the Primary Montessori Training. I worked in a children's house for a while and as the course assistant for the AMI Primary Course in Minnesota. Right now, aside from Primrose, I work as the course assistant. It is a great job that helps me stay very close to the Montessori theory that guides my work.
